Dear St. Charles School Parents and Guardians,

As you may have seen in Gov. Mike DeWine’s press conference, the school closure mandate has extended to May 1, 2020.  As you can imagine we are disappointed that we will not be able to have our students back in our classrooms at the school but we are doubly committed to making sure we still provide a quality, faith-based education.  If you have any concerns about meals for your children please contact our school guidance counselor, Carol Van Meter (vanmeterc@sccslima.org).  We have several resources in which we can guide you to in order to help during this extended school closing

The faculty and staff are preparing for this extended order.  Many of our grade levels have been able to move to a complete online platform and we will continue to provide learning this way.  On Monday, April 6, 2020 from 7:00am-5:00pm St. Charles Families will have the opportunity to drop off any completed paper and pencil work and pick up the new work that has been prepared. There will also be a place to return any school library books that your child may have at home.  If you need to renew the book please send Mrs. Collins a message.

Please remember that it is imperative that your child is completing the work that is being provided for them.  Students that are not turning in work are considered to be absent and subject to any of the consequences excessive absences would normally entail.  In looking at the calendar moving forward I wanted to lay out what the next month will look like. We will observe our already scheduled Easter Break, therefore, no work will be assigned on April 10, 13, & 14.  We have also decided to schedule an additional day on April 24, 2020 to set aside as a catch-up/work day.  This means that the teachers will not be assigning new work on April 24th but will still be available to their students so they can ask questions and work on catching up if they have fallen behind.

Please keep monitoring your email and our website as we will continue to communicate additional information as it becomes available. This is new territory for everyone. I'm sure you have many questions about how everything is going to work, and I wish we could provide you with all of the answers right now. The administration, teachers, and Diocesan leaders are working on all of these details.  We continue to pray that you and your family are safe and we thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

 Yours In Christ,

Megan Scheid, Principal

P.S. We need your help!  We are adding to our yearbook and need pictures of your children learning while at home.  Please send those pictures to Mrs. Kelly Gronas at gronask@sccslima.org by Thursday, April 2.
